Keep that Money: message to the Governor of New York
Hope other New Yorkers will send one like this to our governor (or your governor, where you live)
I sent the following message to Kathy Hochul, Governor of New York
https://www.governor.ny.gov/content/governor-contact-form
Dear Governor,
First, I want to thank you for speaking out, especially making quite clear that we don't have a king in America. That was the whole point of 1776, of course.
I'm sure you know that Governor Mills of Maine told Trump that should he withhold federal funds from Maine, she will stop tax payments from Maine being sent to Washington. I would like you to make that same announcement regarding any cuts to Medicaid, SNAP. Social Security, Medicare or similar programs clearly intended by the GOP budget bill. Many New Yorkers, including me, literally rely on these programs to live.
I know we are one of the states that always send more money to Washington than we receive back, and by a large margin. Therefore, I believe it would be very much appreciated by the people of our state if you were to announce that the State of New York will take care of its people by covering any cuts made in Washington with these funds you keep back.
Do it! I promise we've got your back.
Regards,
Lyn Gerry
